Apollos Watered: The Center for Discipleship and Cultural Apologetics exists to deepen discipleship and widen witness in a complex and changing world. We help Christians and churches grow in their faith and engage culture with the truth, beauty, and power of the gospel of Jesus Christ through cultural apologetics and missioholism.
Named after Apollos in the New Testament—a man mighty in the Scriptures who was further equipped to teach the way of God more accurately—we seek to do the same for today’s church. We come alongside pastors, missionaries, theological students, and ministry leaders to equip them with biblical wisdom, theological clarity, cultural awareness, and spiritual vitality.
Through media, teaching, online courses, cohorts, in-person training, and a growing global community, we are cultivating a generation of thoughtful, grounded, and missionally engaged Christians who live out God’s kingdom in every sphere of life.
We believe discipleship must be both deep and wide—deep in spiritual formation and biblical understanding, and wide in cultural engagement and mission. That’s why we bring together the best of theology, missiology, apologetics, and spiritual formation into one holistic vision: to water the faith of believers so they flourish where God has planted them.
About Us
Apollos Watered was born out of both pain and hope—pain at what the church has too often become, and hope in what God still calls His people to be today.
Paul planted, and Apollos watered.
Our role, like Apollos, is to water the Church so that it may flourish in Christ.
We carry a pastor’s heart because we love Christ’s church. We know the joys and burdens of shepherding God’s people, and our desire is to see the Church grow deep roots in Christ so that its faith may be mature, resilient, and life-giving to the world.
We exist because the world has changed—and the church often struggles to respond.
Many Christians feel shallow, weary, or uncertain of how to live faithfully in this cultural moment.
At the same time, the surrounding world often sees Christianity as either irrelevant or unbelievable.
We believe that God’s mission has not changed.
What the church needs today is deep roots in Christ, clarity in the gospel, and wisdom for engaging the world.
That’s why we do what we do.
- Cultural Apologetics
We help believers establish the Christian imagination, conscience, voice, and practice within today’s culture. This means not just defending the faith with arguments, but showing how Christianity is both true and deeply satisfying. We analyze the deep structures of culture, expose idols and distortions, and redeploy the church to live faithfully and compellingly in the public square. - Missioholism
We also equip the church with a holistic vision of discipleship and mission. Missioholism is about the mission of God for everything and everyone—gospel, kingdom, church, and culture held together. It calls believers to live as a new creation community, shaped by spiritual formation, rooted in the kingdom story, and engaged with the world in ways that bring renewal and hope.
Our Core Commitments
At Apollos Watered, our vision of discipleship and mission flows from our core commitments. At heart, we are confessionally Christian, biblically grounded, globally engaged, historically rooted, theologically robust, relationally committed, intellectually rigorous, prayerfully dependent, and committed to truth. These commitments guide how we equip leaders, engage culture, and serve God’s mission in the world.
Confessionally Christian — We stand in continuity with the historic faith of the Church. We affirm the ancient creeds—such as Nicaea—as well as modern statements like the NAE Statement of Faith and the Lausanne Covenant. These connect us to the global church across time and protect us from picking and choosing only the parts of Christianity we prefer.
Biblically Grounded — Our life together begins and ends with Scripture. The Bible is not merely ancient wisdom but the living, God-breathed Word that equips us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16–17). Through it, the Spirit guides the people of God and calls us into deeper faithfulness.
Globally Engaged — The Church is not Western or Eastern, Northern or Southern. It is Christ’s Church—made up of every tribe, tongue, and nation. We believe no one group fully expresses the beauty of the gospel on its own. We need each other. Together we learn, grow, and reflect the fullness of Christ.
Historically Rooted — We do not reinvent the faith for every generation. We draw from the wisdom of those who have gone before, learning from their insights and failures alike. The story of God’s people across time reminds us that our moment is not unique and anchors us in God’s faithfulness.
Theologically Robust — Faithful witness requires depth and clarity. We aim for thoughtful theological reflection that can sustain discipleship, resist distortion, and speak persuasively in a world of competing ideas. Robust theology grounds us in truth and equips us to engage the challenges of our day with confidence and humility.
Relationally Committed — Ministry is not simply about ideas but about people. We are committed to walking with others in honesty, humility, and love. Whether discipling, collaborating, or engaging culture, we seek to build relationships of trust that reflect Christ’s own way of making disciples.
Intellectually Rigorous — Loving God with all our minds means thinking carefully and critically about the world and the gospel. We engage ideas with rigor, drawing on theology, philosophy, history, and the social sciences. We recognize that God’s truth and goodness extend beyond the church: patterns of justice, beauty, and order in culture reflect His common grace. This seriousness honors God, strengthens disciples, and helps the church bear credible witness in the public square.
Prayerfully Dependent — Our efforts are sustained not by strategy or intellect alone but by God’s Spirit. Prayer is not an accessory to ministry but the lifeblood of discipleship, mission, and cultural engagement.
Committed to Truth — We pursue truth with rigor, humility, and courage. Rooted in the revelation of God in Christ and Scripture, our work aims to understand reality as it truly is, discerning God’s wisdom in theology, culture, and discipleship. Truth guides our thinking, our teaching, and our engagement with the world.
We believe that following Jesus is for everyone. Everyone. Discipleship is not an individual project but a shared journey. Together we are the family of God—a family that transcends time, space, ethnicity, and culture. The Church is God’s means to bring His kingdom, and true discipleship requires all of us, together.
That’s why we exist. Apollos Watered exists to equip ministry leaders and churches to thrive in a rapidly changing world through training in Cultural Apologetics and Missioholism.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
